After B.Tech Where should We Go: MBA or M.Tech

It is very rare discussion seems to be when everybody knows very clear about their vision. Here one student has asked as his query with us on Privatejobshub that which profile should be opt after B.Tech- Whether to go for MBA or M.Tech?
I thought: Oh god!  Why did not i get an opportunity to meet that candidate? I want to meet him but thoroughly thinking that he was not a single. Perhaps, there are many others who are confused in making decision. Immediately, I decided to write my opinion as an article for candidates with following points as consideration:

  • Never work as a pressure- Always work only if you love it to do else you would be darely called as work shirker.
  • Identify your goal – Whether you want to declare your ability in administration or in technical?
  • Search your interest area – after the completion of B.Tech as it would seems to have M.Tech for technicals and for those who would like to do researching in their technical field. However, MBA depends on your critique as management, administration and decision making power.
  • Why we should go for MBA? :- MBA- Master of Business Administration should be adopted after B.Tech because it concerns that person having idea of technical field can manage IT resource management part very surely after doing MBA. For example- I am from technical background but not completed MBA.   However, pursuing job in human resources would not let me difficulty in taking test of a candidate applied for a technical job. But the difficulty faced would be how to manage that IT candidate and further ruling and administering with them.
  • Why should we go for M.Tech?  :- M.Tech is known to be completed only for those aspirants who want to sharp their career in technical field but who are doing just to become masters in technical line and for getting a degree, it would be wastage of time. M.Tech is a research programme known to be at the best of rest and can accomplish as career zeal not as a job deal.
Opportunities for B.Tech after doing MBA:
  • Human Resources
  • System Administrator
  • Manager
  • MIS Operator
  • Computer Operator and many others
Opportunities for B.Tech after doing M.Tech:
  • System Testing
  • Lectureship
  • Assistant Professor
  • Technician
  • Scientist
  • Customer Support Engineer
For efficiency and effectiveness, one should ensure arena of their interest would upgrade you in that particular section and enhance your abilities in future.

Criminal Psychology: A Serious Business To Find Roots To Heinous Acts

Over the years, the need for study in forensic science has been on a rise. Forensic Science has now become an essential instrument to investigate crime. One of the specializations that a person can do is criminal psychology, which is an applied area of psychology. It is basically a mixture of law and psychology. This field is focused on aspects related to the law and the legal profession. A criminal psychologist is the one who is capable of studying the thoughts, motives and actions of criminals. “The main focus is to understand why a person commits crime and to work on the preventive strategies to reduce and prevent crime in society”, said Professor Abha Singh, Amity University.

The various crimes that prevail in our society include drug trafficking, gunrunning, money laundering, extortion, murder, fraud, human trafficking, terrorism and burglary. As our society has become more complex, there is an indispensible need to appoint criminal psychologist. Psychologists are highly in demand these days because they are helpful in combating crime. Moreover, psychologists are helpful to the government in taking decisions on a criminal case.

Owing to the high demand of criminal psychologists, many institutions have now come up with professional courses in the respective discipline. Amity University is amongst the few colleges in India that provides PG diploma course in Criminal Psychology. “Study in criminal psychology has now become one of the most rapidly growing areas in the market. Our prime motive is to impart excellent learning to give students an insight into what is expected from a psychologist,” said Mrs. Savita Mehta, Vice President, Amity University.

As per Prof. Abha, “Psychology is an emerging discipline in India with all the opportunities. While Criminal/Forensic Psychology is established in the U.S.A. and Europe where it has become one of the fastest growing specialisations, in India there is still a need to understand whether studies already undertaken are suitable in an Indian context and in establishing it as an emerging field while we make further progress in reducing crime and improving methods of detection.”

Aspirants who pursue study in criminal psychology will be able to develop a whole new perspective and understanding of people’s actions. During the tenure of study, students will be taught on core topics like psychological approaches to understand crime, assessment & criminal profiling, mental disorder & crime, gender & crime and crime prevention. Students are also taught on various psychology applications, procedure of law and crime investigations. These subjects have utmost significance in the field and hence are taught to give students a clear view and to help them deal with different people with confidence.

The job of a criminal psychologist is to assess criminals as well as to evaluate the risk of recidivism. Professionals are also responsible for criminal profiling, the practice for which was first in the year 1940 during World War 2. Prof. Abha Singh, Amity University, says that students should have a promising future in an emerging discipline which has proven to help law professionals in other countries. In the coming years, this field will certainly attract a larger group of students in India.

Students who are trained in criminal psychology are extremely valuable in undertaking a criminal investigation. Experts in this discipline make use of numerous signs in order to achieve an insight into the nature of criminals as well as the nature of criminal offenses. For instance, a criminal who mutilates a person may perhaps leave various markings that could provide indications that can be used to produce a psychological profile. In the same way, psychologists can draw conclusions about the offender’s crime and may also identify future targets by using their profiles. In order to pursue the PG diploma course at Amity, aspirants must have a minimum 50 percent of marks. Usually, students need to have an undergraduate degree in psychology if they want to pursue a career in criminal psychology. After getting the undergraduate degree, they will need a post graduate Degree/Diploma in criminal psychology.

Prof. Abha Singh says, “In the U.S.A. and Europe, students need to have a special focus on Forensic Psychology in their training if they wish to major in or exclusively focus on applied criminal psychology. In India, this course will train students to have more focus on aspects of psychology related to the law, increasing opportunities to work alongside people employed in related areas. Criminal Psychologists can also help in solving other cases where analysis is required.”

A criminal psychologist can become a consultant in different fields, can help treat mentally ill patients and work with government organizations. Criminal psychologists can even work in the juvenile system. Criminal psychologists can also have their own private practice and can provide consultation services to clients and lawyers. Whatever the sub field, there is a lot of scope in all of them and all are well paying jobs”, said Prof. Abha. She also added that in addition to working directly with law enforcement and the courts, criminal psychologists are employed as private consultants, while others opt to teach criminal psychology at the university level or at specialized criminology training facilities. Some psychologists are self-employed as independent consultants.

Additionally, psychologists can conduct studies in courts to discover the thoughts of criminals. These professionals also have the facility of working in social welfare departments while dealing with human rights and environmental crimes. In non–governmental organizations, research institutes and private detective agencies also psychologists are highly in demand. From this, it can be easily inferred that a criminal psychologist might spend a considerable amount of time interviewing people, researching an offender’s life history or providing expert testimony in the courtroom.

The salary scale of a criminal psychologist depends upon the type of employment he/she will embark on and the total experience they have. Professionals working as a private consultant have chances of drawing higher salary, and involvement in law can also fetch a rewarding salary. As per the national salaries for criminal or forensic psychologists, the salary ranges from 25000 and above.Aspirants who wish to opt for this field must be highly observant, analytical, inquisitive, aspiring, ambitious, motivated, devoted, determined, enthusiastic, flexible, punctual and focused. A psychologist must also have an enquiring mind and high research insight as well as skills. So, if you are thinking about pursuing this course, then wait and give an in depth thought on your goals and capabilities. If you are strong enough and ready to take this job of high responsibility, then go ahead with a head start course that is required to begin a new career in criminal psychology.

Supplementing Class Room Delivery With Videos

New proposal to visually reinforce lessons and unite world’s great teachers

In order to establish the education spectrum, a lot of agendas have been formed so far by the Government. Now, You Tube Education has come to India with a fresh proposal to supplement teaching and learning process through videos. “A global video classroom that brings classroom concepts to life while allowing people to upload videos and access them anytime anywhere is not a replacement for teachers, rather an enhancement to the learning process,” experts said.

The outreach of technology being low in India, will it be a good option to supplement education in such a manner? How can the professors and students from different disciplines benefit from this initiative? There are certain aspects that need to be addressed along with introducing a new format of imparting studies. According to Dr. Gurpreet Singh Tuteja, Deputy Dean, Students’ Welfare, DU it is merely a tutorial video and it is easy for students to watch & learn lessons online, but when it comes to interaction it is not of much use. “Though it is better than books anyway, the application part fails dramatically through this process of teaching,” Dr. Tuteja added.

Whereas, Prof. Nalini Ranjan, PRO, IP University said “supplementing classroom studies with online videos is a brilliant facility, which will help increase access to study material. In addition to this, the division that has been created in the education sector will also end while giving Indian students an edge on study pattern outside.”

“Social media networking and Google are so much into our veins now that almost everything is done on internet. We communicate, share and inform everything on facebook, twitter and so on. In addition, watching educational videos is also very common with young generation. Almost everything happing around is immediately uploaded on you tube. So I think it is a very good initiative and the fact that we can watch international classroom videos encourages me even more,” said Nitika Kataria, a student of BBA.

With different views flowing from students and professors, critics have been saying that India has the most over regulated and under governed education system. Is this the right time to reform the system with this new way of disseminating knowledge? “If you do not spend $20 million by sending your child out and invest that same amount in your own country, you can transform the entire education system. We want to open up the entire education system to greater investment. This is why we focus on three prime issues i.e., (1) access which means expansion, (2) equity which means inclusion and (3) quality which means excellence,” said HRD Minister Kapil Sibal in an exclusive interview with CNBC TV 18.

The open submission process of you tube education allows animators and educators from across the globe to contribute lessons and video reels on every topic. With over 750 educational channels and 400 universities uploading quality content currently, You Tube Education now intends to get some new content partnerships in India apart from Khan Academy, which helps in providing primary and secondary education. “The virtual class concept is good, and we are absolutely planning to tie up with you tube. However, as the outreach of technology is low and we are still behind countries like America and China, we need to ensure that the programming is such that a majority of students can access study material online. Moreover, it is also paramount to make it a two way process and use more visuals for better understanding,” said Dr. Ranjan.

So, in this scenario the cotent that you tube uploads online must be in sync with the lastest trends. Moreover, the uploader must not forget that the content is for the whole world to see and hence should be in a universal language, perhaps along with subtitles. Apart from this, another concern that arises is that majority of population is below poverty line and there is low education rate in India. Will these unavoidable factors help online educational videos reinforce lessons In India and for how many?

Classroom beyond Walls

From online university courses to audio books to cooking classes to infinite volumes of data, E-learning is rapidly transforming the way we gather knowledge

Integrating technology into the classroom has become the new way to share knowledge and involve students in the learning process. Even beyond classroom, technology has transformed the education system and helped us view any data that we want. If you are an MBA aspirant or want to get into journalism and could not have access to quality teachers then all you need to do is to click. Yes, this was beyond our dreams years ago but not anymore. All thanks to enhanced connectivity and a wide range of solutions available in the market.

Earlier, students used to learn from text books and teachers only, and the need for technology was never recognized. If students can succeed in school without technology then why are we spending money to equip our classrooms with smart technology products. It might be a complex issue to understand whether technology should be used in the education system or not, but certainly it is adding value to learning. As education is quite influential in determining the development and growth of our nation, technology, in this regard is relevant to be used. It is also for us to act globally while involving students in the process of learning.

The ubiquitous appearance of technology in today’s world has encouraged us to adapt it in the education system in the best possible manner. Moreover, technology is required to advance the way teachers teach and students learn. Digital learning tools like computers and hand held devices have fashioned the classrooms and enabled students develop various techniques and modes of learning. Owing to the use of technology, teachers and scholars have been able to provide effective learning experiences to students. Technology has also helped students observe information, reflect on the same, compare with their experiences as well as consider new ways to act. The use of new learning opportunities and technologically advanced educational resources can eventually amplify students’ educational productivity. Moreover, contemporary technology helps in accelerating a student’s learning rate, reducing costs associated with instructional materials or program delivery and better utilizing teacher time.

Dhirendra Pratap Singh, Founder & Editor of ICTpost says, “there is no doubt that teaching our children to operate in a digital world is a good thing. Education that utilizes digital devices is a great way to acclimate children to their future lives, cultures, careers and workplaces. Suddenly, the tablet has become all the rage in education. Technology is playing a very major role in providing the multiplier effect and in improving the Gross Enrollment Ratio (GER) in education. It has helped in quality enhancement efforts, ameliorating teacher shortage, taking care of the needs of the working population by providing access to education anytime, anywhere and for teacher empowerment.”

Given the immense growth in this sector and undeniable digital opportunity, Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has taken a tech initiative by encouraging schools to use digital content materials in classrooms. Singh also added that with 673 million (60 per cent) of the population below 30 years of age (median age: 25 years), the sector has immense potential. From $28 billion today, the Indian education sector is expected to grow to $47 billion over five-six years. Mobile phones are increasingly ubiquitous in poor countries, which now account for four in every five connections worldwide. Similarly, e-Books collaborative learning can be used for the benefits of large number of school children.

The other side:

Is the latest chatter on using technology to educate having an impact on student learning? Is the smart technology useful enough to convert mirrors into windows? Is it easy for children to access world-class technology? Some of the points that must be kept in mind while introducing smart technology to educate students for faster adoption are as follows:

• Affordable & faster broadband connectivity
• Easy language of communication
• Interactive e-content
• Ability to address curriculum content needs
• Students' & parents' acceptability of e-contents
• Performance feedback with students

Moreover, in today’s scenario, teachers are required to get trained to understand how to teach in a different manner. They must know how student-centric learning methods can be applied to classrooms, to increase educational outcomes. By directing various student learning activities, instructors will not merely help student attain good test scores, but also, increase attendance, attention and participation of the student. By making technology an integrated tool in the field of education, educators can create successful and competitive contributors to the new global market.

The university short term courses are open for college students only, however, outsiders can pursue language courses. These courses last for almost three to six months and classes are held after college hours.
